Lying at elevations of 2,100–2,300 m in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, Horton Plains National Park boasts montane grassland and cloud forest, harboring rich biodiversity with many endemic species. The park serves as the headwaters for three major Sri Lankan rivers: the Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe. Home to large herds of Sri Lankan sambar deer, it is also designated as an Important Bird Area, hosting bird species exclusive to Sri Lanka and the Horton Plains. World’s End and Baker’s Falls, sheer precipices, are notable tourist attractions within the park.
